Product development and innovation

Nuclear: Automatic Termination Coverage Reinstatement Opportunity
Historically, nuclear detonation exclusions would automatically cancel certain cover under aviation insurance policies in the event of a nuclear event, grounding flights globally. Gallagher developed the insurance solution to this critical gap in aviation insurance, with the Automatic Termination Coverage Reinstatement Opportunity specifically designed to meet this eventuality. This was developed with the support and expertise of Osprey, who modelled the impact of a nuclear detonation, generating real-time data points, exclusion zone, and impact assessments to provide insurers with actionable intelligence. Osprey remain as an ongoing consultants for the project and would support the coverage reinstatement process were it ever needed.
RiskScope Development
An Osprey product developed exclusively with Gallagher for the aviation insurance market, RiskScope drives informed decision-making, providing insurers with a global overview of risk scores over multiple layers of operations. This is a standout example of how our partnership has enabled the adoption in the underwriting community of enhanced risk assessment tools. It has supported the Hull War market in particular to improve differentiation between risks with the latest and most focused aviation threat intelligence behind them.
Risk Management
Osprey Risk Manager is a robust and customisable risk management tool specifically tailored to allow the aviation community to monitor, mitigate and manage their risk exposure through a dynamic scoring of treated and untreated risk with a medium-term goal of driving industry best practice. Gallagher provided consultative input on the Osprey concept and product design, offering support on the pilot project with airline clients.
